Field day venue: Schurveberg


GPS Co-Ordinates: S25 48′ 40.6″ E28 02′ 29.0″


Directions to Schurveberg:


  • Take R28(I think this is now N14?) freeway (Pretoria/Krugerdorp).


  • Take the R55 off ramp and turn towards Pretoria.


  • Go around the traffic circle but continue along the R55.


  • Pass Zwartkop racetrack on left hand side and at the next traffic light take the slipway left, follow the signboard to Erasmia/Krugersdorp (M26). (If you get to Ladium you have missed the turnoff)


  • Go through the suburb of Erasmia and look out for a signboard to Hoogland Health Hydro and Schurveberg.


  • Turn right into Grey Street – the road is just before the shopping centre on the right hand side.


  • Follow the signs to Hoogland Hydro, the road becomes Van Melle St.


  • Continue straight through 2 circles, the road becomes a dirt road. Pass Vlakplaas, Dockrats & the Hindu Temple both on the left and at the 3.2km mark you will turn in to the veld on a track is an entrance on the right. Look out for the “Beagles” signs!



Directions from Fourways:



  • Take the William Nicol North past Diepsloot & go under the Krugerdorp Highway.


  • Continue straight on this road M26from this point for 23.7km.


  • You will pass the Velmore Estate & just after this there is a road to the left Fortuna.(If you miss this road the next one is Grey Street)


  • Turn left & follow this road until the traffic circle & then turn Left around a second traffic circle & then the instruction from the dirt portion as above.
