There are 2 beagles looking for a new forever home…
I don;’t have a lot of info on them, apart from what is listed below…
please contact their current owner for more info if you are interested!
…
Two beagles looking for a new home, but would like to be kept together.
One male, one female.
Jack and Rucska
Both are KUSA registered, male has been neutered.
Please contact Johan at 0829053111 in Centurion.
They have moved to a townhouse complex and the space is too small for the beagles.

.
Another successful hunt out in Gauteng yesterday. We met some new beagles as usual… hope they had fun!
After the very cold week we’ve had in JHB, Sunday was quite mild…!
We had a group of about 35 – 40 beagles
Just look at what a blur these speedy beagles are! (click on the picture for an enlarged version and see if you can spot your beagle!)
Here’s another one of the hounds in action… can you spot your beagle? I can see my Harry!
All the beagles seem to have had a great time… especially on the very last line, where they smelt a rabbit and most went chasing off after that scent instead of the scent we had laid for them! Needless to say, not many beagles finished the last line
Billy, who has only been to 2 or 3 hunts is doing incredibly well!! Now he must teach his big brother Ben how to follow the scent!
Billy the natural hunter!
…
Harry was completely exhausted after all the running around. And he keeps rolling in the dirt – probably trying to get rid of that embarrassing England flag on his bib
Harry wasn’t the only tired beagle… look how exhausted Poppadom and Roti look!
…
as usual, all the beagles got some cuddle time in
Lucy getting love from her mom… and Charlie getting a tickle too! (and in the background, Marmalade and Tammy getting scratches and loves)
Roger was also getting a good cuddle!
…
These 3 ladies were very interested in something… Rebel, Pippen and Bella
…
Thanks to everyone who makes these days possible! Our next hunt is on Sunday 1 August at 7:30am… sign up here.
We only have 4 more open hunts left in the 2010 season! And then the Top Ten Challenge where the top ten beagles of this season compete in a long line to see who has what it takes!!
After the season is over, and the points have been tallied, we have a black tie prize giving, where all beagles are awarded certificates, and there are rosettes and trophies and other prizes for various beagles… it is great fun and a lovely evening… Hopefully lots of you who have joined us in 2010 will come along to this, it is an awesome way to pay tribute to our hounds who have done us so proud! (see the photos from last year HERE … can you recognize anyone, without their beagles in tow, and not covered in muddy paw prints??
)

We received this from Merlot’s mom, Liesel… as I was reading it, I had tears pouring down my face.
This is the story of Merlot, and how she was lost, for almost a week… and then found!
I hope you guys can all understand Afrikaans!
Merlot
Ek was verbysterd……angs, vrees en n beklemming het my oorval…….my poppie hond
By die kultuur sentrumhet Merlot
My ouers is terug huis
Tevergeefs…………..
Ons moes toe terug keer huiswaarts want die ander honde was geweldig uitgeput en my
arme ouers was gedaan.
bedjie is leeg………
vriendinne.Ondersteuning was nou noodsaaklik.
Nog nooit in my
lewe het ek so n ondersteuningsgroep teegekom nie.
Daagliks
Merlot was verskrik en in skok.
braai.
nagmerrie lewe is gelei.
My nuwe werk was n geweldige ondersteuning.Erica (Praktyk Bestuurderes) en
Nadia(Diens Bestuurderes).
geondersteun.
Ons was totaal uitgeput.
Ounooi my German-Shepard het toe weer
Teen 6pm gewaar ek weer my ouers teen die strand stap.My arme ma kon skaars een tree
stap maar sy het deurgedruk……..
Ounooi en die ander honde was gedaan. My pa se skoene was al deurgeloop……stemme
Melkbos by Kultuursentrum.
help soek.
roep.Pa en ma ry toe so 100meter voor my.Die staptog begin.(pa het oor die 700km
altesaam gery)Pa se nuwe kar was vol seesand en modder….skoene was flenters…….
My keel
bly staan.
Daar was ook n geval waar ek amper deur n vreemde man opgetel is maar pa so vinnig
vertrouens liedjie……my stem breek en ek val op my knieë langs n bos…….”my God my
God het U my verlaat”?!!!!!!!(ek het wel geweet Sy engele bewaar Merlot).SKIELIK IS DAAR N SAGTE BEWEGING IN DIE BOS….ONS STAAN
STIL…….WEER N GERITSEL……DIT KOM NADER……..DIE TAKKE BREEK EN
DAAR IS IETS WAT BAIE VINNIG NADER
KOM……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
`N GODLIKE TEENWOORDIGHEID OORVALMY EN EK BEGIN
SKREEU……..MY GOD…MY …GOD…..U IS
GETROU…………………………………………………………………………..
Merlot.
DIE DONKER NAG IS ‘MY…….GOD…MY ….GOD….MY KIND…MY
KIND…………GOD U IS SO GETROU……….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Teen die tyd het my ouers my verloor want ek lê in die bos…….
Die eerste gedagte wat by hulle opkom is…..”ek het iets oorgekom of op Merlot se lykie
afgekom.
Sy was
Al my
Baie baie dankie
Pa Soon.mamma Betsie,Liesel en
Merlot.
Hey Guys…
Merlot, the beagle who went missing in Blaauwberg, has been found!!
She is fine, other than a few scratches and she’s a little thinner. But she is home safe and sound, which is all that matters!
Thank you to everyone who distributed her details and searched for her and said a prayer for her and her family!!
Three courageous canines are to be honoured by an animal charity for behaviour beyond the call of duty… and one of them is a beagle!!
5 year old Frodo, a Beagle that became a lifesaver one night in June 2008.
Fire swept through the family home in St Bees, Cumbria, and smoke alarms in the house were faulty.

Sensing danger, Frodo woke up his owner Jenny Barwise and led her through dense smoke to where other members of the family were sleeping.
Frodo was hailed a hero by Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service for his actions.

Her name is MERLOT… if you see her, or can help in anyway, please email us!!
Please distribute this to everyone you know in the area!!
Hey Guys…
there is a bit of a scare going around Gauteng with regards to rabies. Someone in our group has heard of 2 confirmed cases in the past week (near Krugersdorp).
Because of this, we are now INSISTING on all beagles to BRING their UP TO DATE VACCINATION CERTIFICATE to the JHB hunts. Especially with the larger than normal amount of fights we have been having at the hunts.
We will be implementing a “No Certificate – No Hunt policy” … please be very aware of this, and make sure all your pets are up to date with their vaccinations.
There was an article in the Sowetan about it and here is an article off
www.nicd.ac.za/pubs/communique/communique.htm
Rabies alert
Rabies was confirmed this month in two domestic dogs from separate households in Witpoortjie, an established suburb on the West Rand of Gauteng Province. One of the dogs had received a single dose of rabies vaccine as a young puppy. Neither dog had left the area prior to developing rabies. Both cases were characterised as the canid biotype of rabies virus. The source of the rabies remains unclear, but may be due to contact with a stray rabies-infected dog or undisclosed travel. While no definite human exposures were identified, a course of rabies vaccination was given to two household family members with possible category 2 exposures. An intensive dog vaccination campaign was launched by the Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries. A similar incident occurred in 2009 when rabies was confirmed in a domestic dog in the Johannesburg suburb of Linden. While rabies in domestic animals in suburban areas of Johannesburg is very uncommon, these incidents highlight two important points: the need to consider rabies as a differential diagnosis in the appropriate clinical setting, as well as rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for the management of all persons with animal exposures. PEP is especially important if the exposure is un¬provoked, the animal is a stray, the animal is ill or aggressive, or if the animal originates from an area where rabies is common. Thorough wound cleaning is critical, and PEP (with a course of rabies vaccine and rabies immunoglobulin into the wound) according to the national guidelines may be life-saving.
There has been a total of 6 laboratory-confirmed human rabies cases in South Africa for 2010 to date. These cases originate from Mpumalanga (n=1); KwaZulu-Natal (n=1), Eastern Cape (n=1) and Limpopo (n=3) provinces.

Yesterday was Fathers’ Day and the week preceding the hunt was one of the coldest weeks Jozi has seen in years!! Brrrrr.
But, there was a pretty big turnout at our hunt, even a few new people again. Our usual huntmaster was off celebrating Fathers’ Day, so Jane took the lead and organised the lines for us.
Once the sun peeped over the mountains, it was slightly less chilly. The beagles didn’t seem too worried about the cold, frosty ground, and ran around as usual!
We had a LOT of new, young males and the testosterone was flying! This is a natural thing, as they were trying to establish a hierarchy, but it is quite stressful to us humans, and some of the other dogs… so, please remember to keep your dogs (ESPECIALLY unsterilised males!!) on a short lead when they are not on the line.
The hunts all went well, with a minimal number of beagles going off on their own mission (except little Wendy who went chasing birds faaaaaaaaaaaar away from the rest of us… thanks Peter and Martin for going to fetch her!)
Roger spent Fathers’ day with his dad:
…
Poppadom and Roti celebrated their Dad’s (twenty-first! – hehe) birthday AS WELL AS Fathers’ Day! Happy Birthday Trev!!
…
Charlie found a stick which kept him entertained between lines
…
Bella getting lots of love and cuddles from her mom
…
Harry also got lots of love and cuddles in the cold
…
all of us lining up at the start… restraining the beagles who just wanted to RUN!
…
Who can you spot in this pic? (*click on photo to open full size*).
Denver (in orange 23) and Pippen (in the pink bib) out in front… Jamie in the middle (in the yellow 91 bib). Enzo in full stretch near the front (orange number 80)… is that Kingsley in the orange just behind Enzo?
…
Who can you spot in this pic? (*click on photo to open full size*).
Denver (orange 23) and Lucy (black denim bib) in the front, Pippen in pink right behind. Jamie in yellow in the middle, next to little Maya in the white. A new beagle in the orange (V bib) is just ahead of Jemma in the pink. Go beagles! go, go go!!
…
oooh, and as a bonus, here are some videos of our hunts!! They were taken at the last hunt, but I’ve only managed to get round to uploading them now!
…
…
Our next hunt is on 4 July and will be a breakfast again!! Yum yum!! sign up for the HUNT here… remember, if you want to join for the breakfast too, you MUST email me and let me know how many people we need to cater for!
Thanks to everyone for organising and running the hunts! Look forward to the 4th!
