Our Walkhaven day was a combination of “beagle-fun-in-the-sun” and a bit of a charity drive for Animals in Distress .
A lot of people were already away for their Christmas holiday… but I was blown away by the generosity of everyone who was at Walkhaven with their donations… there was so much stuff, our back seat was FULL and I had to get my friend, Michelle, to take 4 big bags of dog food with her in her car!! – she doesn’t have dogs, so I knew I could trust her with it! hee hee
Look at all of this stuff… (and this is without the 4 bags Michelle took home for me)

Hey Guys,
remember when some of us did the charity walk at Animals in Distress in Midrand in early October?
Well, there are pictures of some of us and our beagles in the latest edition of the Animals in Distress newsletter!
I was so excited when I opened up my post box over the weekend!
Unfortunately, the booklet is folded, and then I scanned it in, so, apologies for the not so great quality!
a really bad scan of the group of walking people…:
…
And the kind people at Animals in Distress sent me some other shots that she had on file… (click on the pics to view a larger image!)
Hey Everyone…
our last Walkhaven day for the year will be on Sunday 20 December at 2pm. I know some of you might be away… but we’ll have a run for you guys
What I would like to do, is ask everyone who comes to please bring something to donate to Animals in Distress from your beagle. I will drop off all the donations to the society, on behalf of the Beagles!
Donations can be:
This is not by any means compulsory, but it would be greatly appreciated and go a long way in helping animals who are not as fortunate as your beagle
If you would like to donate something, and cannot make it to Walkhaven on 20 Dec, please email me or see Animals in Distress’s website for more info.
I hope you can make it! – See you there!!
Sign up on Facebook, or on the beagle site.
- Happy Beagling,
Tanya
PLEASE NOTE: NO ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED AT THIS EVENT!
Hi Guys – I went to this last year, and it was actually pretty cool (even for me, who isn’t a big fan of this kind of thing!!)
Come and see what they do, have a bite to drink, a beer or glass of wine and sing along to all the carols you know and take a listen to some new remixed versions – last year was great!
The Society for Animals in Distress

Yesterday was the Charity walk for Animals in Distress.
We saw: Jane with Pippen and Rebel, Trevor & Dilene with Poppadom & Roti, Karen & Robert with Lucy, Gavin & Carmel with Snoopy and his Jack Russel brother… and Tanya & Peter with Harry and Oscar. There was also another couple with 2 beagles. So, all in all, 10 beagles! I think the only breed that outdid us in numbers was the Golden Retriever
Oh, and Glen and Lyn who come to out hunts with Vicky were also at the walk, with their 4 ENORMOUS Irish Wolfhounds!
There was a 2.5km walk and a 5km (which was the 2.5km walk twice). I think everyone except Jane signed up for the shorter walk. Once we had done our round, Jane persuaded us all to keep going once more… which we all did
It was quite a big turnout, which I was happy about – it’s always good so see support for a great charity. There were even prizes for the people who finished first, and doggy treat bags for most of the dogs! They had lots of tubs full of water for all the dogs, and an MTN gazebo handing out water bottles to us humans. The weather was nice and overcast, so we didn’t even overheat.
After the walk some of us took a walk around the paddocks to see the horses and donkeys who live there. There were 4 tiny little foals who were VERY VERY cute! Some of the horses were a bit unsure of ALL the dogs who had come to visit… but mostly, everyone was very chilled.
The donkeys were all SUPER friendly and extremely cute! I didn’t get any pictures of the beagles unfortunately! (I wasn’t planning on doing a post on the site)… but I did get this photo of my beagle, Harry giving one of the very friendly donkeys a kiss! I was amazed that Harry was so very brave!
It was a very enjoyable morning, and it was great to see Snoopy, Poppadom, Roti, Lucy, Pippen, Rebel, Harry and Oscar together again!
We are having a beagle fun day at Walkhaven next Sunday, for anyone who would like to come and have a relaxing day with their dogs (not beagle-exclusive!) Click here for more details and to sign up.
Until then,
Happy Beagling!
- Tanya
As some of you know, a portion of proceeds made from sales from the BeagleShop are donated to a charity dedicated to helping animals. These charities are listed on our Links Page.
Last week I donated some money to Wetnose Animal Rescue Shelter. They sent us this thank you letter.
So, to everyone who has bought something from the BeagleShop, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!
Donations come from sales of Hunting Bibs, Badges, Stickers, Flasks, T-Shirts… absolutely everything on sale is a donation towards a charity! Thanks guys
I’m not selling this stuff to make money for myself!

Tanya
AN APPEAL FROM WETNOSE ANIMAL RESCUE
Hi Guys,
Please will you do me a huge favour and send our International Homeless Animals Day Brochure to everyone in your companies and in your address books. This is the biggest fund raising event of the year for us and it is going to be great fun. It is a family day with something for everyone!
Families adopt a homeless animal from us for the day, spoil it, love it, and take it for a 1km walk, where after they receive a medal.
There will be rehabilitation awards for animals that have come through extreme hardships as well as dog shows and exhibitions. There will be flea market stalls, food stalls, a beer garden, a kid’s playground and jumping castle and much more. It promises to be bigger and better than last year.
I really need YOUR help to make this year the best International Homeless Animals Day ever hosted!
I have attached the brochure which can be forwarded or even printed and put up in your offices. Come on guys, word of mouth works wonders… lets see what we can all do together!
Thank you and see you there!
Wetnose.
