The beagles took over Walkhaven yesterday…! There were a TON of beagles!! i know i say this every time, but i’m sure this was a record number!! Everywhere you looked, you just saw noses down and tails up!! it was great
lots of new people and beagles – i hope they all had a fun time!
PLEASE NOTE: This was our last official meetup at walkhaven for this summer… our next meeting will be at the HUNT VENUE and serve as a registration for new people and a bit of an orientation morning. I will be sending out an email with all the details… so, keep an eye out for that!!
Thanks again to Carmel for being the “Official Photographer”
little Snoopette, I mean, Penny was the highlight of the day
she is SUCH a confident little girl this one! Running around, playing in the water, getting chased by golden retrievers, being cuddled by anyone who could get her to sit still for more than 5 seconds…
…
Pippen, posing for the camera… she really is one of the prettiest beagles i’ve ever seen! – Look at that smile!!
…
Roger, of Top Ten Fame was there for a run around
…
The beagles do love it there
…
Harry got cuddles, even though he was a wet beagle!!
…
rebel is always on the lookout for something to nibble on
…
The always smiling Snoopy (who is becoming VERY vocal!! – hehe)
…
Oscar doing his “Roll Over” trick so his dad would throw the ball into the dam
…
Walkhaven wouldn’t be complete for Harry and Oscar if they didn’t swim!
…
and isn’t this a lovely family picture…? Too bad mom wasn’t feeling well enough to join the rest of them

Our Walkhaven day was a combination of “beagle-fun-in-the-sun” and a bit of a charity drive for Animals in Distress .
A lot of people were already away for their Christmas holiday… but I was blown away by the generosity of everyone who was at Walkhaven with their donations… there was so much stuff, our back seat was FULL and I had to get my friend, Michelle, to take 4 big bags of dog food with her in her car!! – she doesn’t have dogs, so I knew I could trust her with it! hee hee
Look at all of this stuff… (and this is without the 4 bags Michelle took home for me)
Donations were:

It was a very hot day and we all had lots of fun… our next beagle day will be at Delta Park – for a change… and we’ll see which we prefer
Keep an eye on the website for more details and also for the dates of the hunts for 2010~!!
This past weekend James and Kerry had a Welcome Home party for Bailey at Walkhaven.
It was to celebrate Bailey’s return and to thank everyone who helped look for her while she was missing. We got to meet the lovely couple who found Bailey and looked after her for a few days before she was reunited with her mom, dad and beagle brother, Spencer.
James treated us to a delicious potjie lunch and home-made bread, which was the highlight of most of our lunches – delicious – thank you!!
The beagles had a wonderful time, as usual. Running, chasing, sniffing, barking, howling, swimming, begging for food… all of a beagle’s favourite things to do, rolled up into one afternoon!
Thanks so much to James and Kerry for the lunch and the company… and from ALL of us beagle-huggers… we are so thrilled to have your family back together again! – much love to you guys
FAMILY REUNITED!
SNOOPY – SMILING, AS ALWAYS
OSCAR – HOWLING AT HIS DAD TO THROW THE BALL IN THE DAM
HARRY BEING CHASED BY BAILEY AND SPENCER (I think)
BAILEY – SHE’S PUT ON A LOT OF WEIGHT SINEC WE LAST SAW HER… Looking good, girl!
BEAGLES (and basset) AND THEIR PEOPLE ON THE ISLAND
Hey Everyone…
our last Walkhaven day for the year will be on Sunday 20 December at 2pm. I know some of you might be away… but we’ll have a run for you guys
What I would like to do, is ask everyone who comes to please bring something to donate to Animals in Distress from your beagle. I will drop off all the donations to the society, on behalf of the Beagles!
Donations can be:
This is not by any means compulsory, but it would be greatly appreciated and go a long way in helping animals who are not as fortunate as your beagle
If you would like to donate something, and cannot make it to Walkhaven on 20 Dec, please email me or see Animals in Distress’s website for more info.
I hope you can make it! – See you there!!
Sign up on Facebook, or on the beagle site.
- Happy Beagling,
Tanya
Another fun day at Walkhaven!
After a solid week of pouring rain and freezing cold, all the beagles were thrilled to be out and about, in the sun!
Not sure what the people at Walkhaven must think when every couple of weeks they are bombarded by a huge pack of crazy beagles!
I won’t even TRY and mention names of who was there…. because there were WAY too many beagles to remember them all – and a very large group of beagles I don’t know from the hunts, so I’m guessing they are from our Facebook Group
There was running, swimming, rolling, howling, barking and everything else that goes with being a beagle.
Oh – the highlight of our day was meeting Bailey! Who is FINALLY home after being lost for 3 weeks! She has become a household name to our group of beagle-huggers and is now quite the celebrity!
Here are some photos from the afternoon yesterday… (Thanks to Carmel – Snoopy’s Momma for the pics – I am very slack at getting pics!)
Oh, if you have some pics, Please upload them onto our BeagleTalk Forum – click HERE for the direct link to the thread.

WATCH THE HOME PAGE FOR DETAILS OF OUR FINAL WALKHAVEN MEETUP FOR THE YEAR!
Today we had our first meetup at Walkhaven Dog Park. I had never been before, but always wanted to go
The turnout was amazing… I’m guessing there were 25 to 35 beagles who came through during the afternoon. A couple of new faces who we don’t know from the hunts, but got the info off our Facebook Group and our Twitter account.
It’s quite a different environment to the hunts, and a few of us were a little nervous of letting our dogs off lead.
Walkhaven is a great place… the licensed restaurant is built up on a deck which overlooks the whole property, and the lake in the middle. There are tables and chairs dotted around under the trees and a little lapa down by the lake. There’s lots of long grass for the dogs to play in… and LOTS of wonderful black mud for them to get filthy in!! (which they DID!)
Everyone seemed to have a GREAT time (beagles and people) whether it was chilling on the deck with a beer, or exploring the area, or having a swim in the lake… or even being thrown in the lake to get the mud off (no names mentioned Jet, Ninja, Oscar I’m looking at you boys!!).
Our next social event is a fundraising walk at Zoo lake on Sunday 25 October (click here for more)
And the next Walkhaven day is Sunday 22 November (click here for more) … come along with the family, it’s great fun!!
Here are some pics I took during the day… (Click on a picture to enlarge it)
